10/18/14: Day 229: Car Kiss Truck

Today I managed the bread and coffee, Lucky normally does this but she is back in the States until November 11th. So at 6:40 I went to the church building and got all the coffee started. I returned again at 7:45 and thankfully all five people that had volunteered to help showed up and on time. We loaded the car with the coffee and the table and then I drove to the market (3 minute walk). I looked behind me and didn’t see anyone so I tried to parallel park… I heard a horn honk and I looked around and didn’t see anything so I continued backing very slowly. Sure enough there was a truck sitting in my blind spot and I barely touched it. The owner got out and looked it over and surprisingly said there was no damage and to go on! I am very thankful! We had smaller cups today so we were able to serve a few more people with a little less. Little Carlos helped me take everything back to the church and wash the urns afterwards. Then I went through another chapter of QuĂ© Dice La Biblia over the afternoon. At 3:30 Samuel and Paolo came over to hang out with me. We had been trying to get together to play board games for the past three weeks. Paolo is competitive and has yet to beat me but today was the same story again. Paolo did better than ever and even had the lead for half the game but I won in the end. We ate pupusas from across the street for dinner then they caught the last bus at 7:00. Then I Skyped for 3 hours and got to bed at 10:00 ish. Please continue to pray for Della and her health issues… She still has a lot to recover from.
