10/07/14: Day 218: Birth Certificate

Paper work is such a pain. We started at 9:30 and went to Ahuachapán to get Charlotte’s El Salvadorian birth certificate. They told us that we needed to go to Sonsonate which is 1.5 hours back over the mountain. So we did and it was difficult to find the court house. They told us that we needed to go back to Ataco to get the certificate. So we went to the mall and ate lunch at the food court. Della had a doctor appointment here Friday so we called and we able to move it up to today. Thankfully we made it to be first in line and were able to get in and out quickly. When we got to the court house in Ataco they told us we needed to go back to Sonsonate. By this point it was 2:30 and we were exhausted and frustrated. They all kept asking for our DUI which is basically a citizenship card which we cannot get because we are not citizens. Lucky managed to convince them that we were in the right place and they told us we first needed to go to the public healthcare clinic. We could almost smell the sickness when we walked in. Everyone stared at us and one lady even brought her four year old child over and said they wanted a closer look. Charlotte and Della had to get checked up and had to get a bunch of papers signed and copied. They weighed Charlotte and she is now seven pounds at 3.5 weeks! We then went back to the court house and they reluctantly took our papers and gave us what we needed. So it was a long day but we were at the end blessed with everything needed to get Charlotte’s passport… I hope…  Poor Charlotte, we took her in and out of the car seat more than 20 times and drove for close to four hours. We are all tired.
