Caleb & Della: 10/16/14: Day 227: Charlotte Passport

Only managed to get Charlotte to sleep 2 hours in her bed but she did get some sleep in with Della. We left the house at 6:35 AM and arrived at the U.S. Embassy at 8:30. We dropped Lucky off across the street and then went and stood in the wrong line. Thankfully we were told quickly and found the citizen’s line. We went two rounds of metal detectors and they took my phone and camera. When we got to the window they said we were number 9 and they were already serving number 6. It ended up being an hour before they got to our number but that was the time of our appointment anyways. The workers were very nice and thankfully we had all the papers we needed. I thought everything was going great until poor Della couldn’t remember her social security number… bless her heart… I am sure Charlotte ate it from her brain. The submission also cost more than I had anticipated but thankfully I had just enough. We will be able to pick up Charlotte’s passport, birth certificate, and SSN any time after the 30^th. We finished at 11:00 so we went back to get Lucky and have lunch. Della had wanted to eat at a particular sushi restaurant but when we got there we discovered they were closed for remodeling. So we went on to the mall and I got Taco Bell and Della found her some sushi. We waited for Tomás to meet us to take Lucky until 2:00. We said our good byes and discovered that I had lost my parking ticket. We looked everywhere and finally gave up. Thankfully they let us leave with a small fine. We were exhausted but we had to stop for groceries on the way home. While we were there Charlotte was very unhappy and tired. So at the checkout line, one of the clerks took Charlotte from Della before she could protest and started rocking her and trying to calm her. Thankfully she was not a baddie. We got home by 4:30 and Charlotte cried the entire way home. It took me an hour to get her to sleep so I managed to get a 30 minute nap in. Then I Skyped with mom and dad to discuss plans to buy airplane tickets.
