4/5/14: Day 34: Irrefutable Laws
We
woke up at 5:30 AM so Della, Lucky, and I could go to the center of town at
6:00 to survey the number of people that setup as venders. Our plan was to
determine the feasibility of serving coffee and bread as an outreach. We took
the dog along with us and the weather was super nice. Hector drove through
about 6:15 to survey from his van then he left. We stayed out until 7:00 then
we went home and took a nap. At 9:00 Della and I went to the market and got a
giant piñata donkey for the lesson tomorrow. Then we left for Hector’s house
for the team meeting. We discussed the second chapter about the Irrefutable Laws of Team Work. We
discussed our goals and discovered several things that will hopefully help our
team grow together and not apart. We finished at 12:30 and Rachael cooked
chicken burritos for everyone. Afterwards we took Lucky back home and then drove
to Ahuachapán to take Carlos home and do some shopping. We checked a store that
we hoped would have a crockpot but it didn’t. We continued on to Ban Ban to get
a cake for tomorrow to celebrate Javier’s (Edgardo’s son) 16th birthday.
Then we went to a hardware store and bought some more powerful lights to better
illuminate our front door. The guy who sold us the lights spoke English and his
helper asked for Della’s name. Della spelled it out using the Spanish alphabet
and the owner translated it by repeating the exact same thing Della said. It
was funny… Then we went to the grocery store and bought candy for the piñata
and a few other groceries. We got back home at 4:00. Lucky taught her first
teacher’s seminar today. Lucky got home at 5:15 and said it had gone really
well. Della, Lucky, and I ate hamburgers and fries for dinner. We all enjoyed a
nice quiet evening for the rest of the night.
