I
took my origami dragon and a book to show my Spanish teacher. I arrived for my
second class at 7:00. The two English students I met on Friday were just
finishing up. One of them (Melvin) was very impressed. For the lesson, the
teacher just started going through the list of verbs that end with ar in
alphabetical order. We only covered ten because he made me conjugate all of
them and then use each in sentences. The teacher pretended to be an English
speaker and I was the interpreter for Melvin. Melvin stayed for the entire
class except for at the beginning when he went out to get us each a soda.
Apparently all the public schools were closed today for a Teachers Work Day. I
went to the grocery store and Dollar City after class. Then I went back up the
mountain home. Della said “Facebook doesn’t lie, happy birthday Lucky!”.
Lucky had thrown a huge party for Della
but tried to not even tell anyone about hers. I told her that we love to take
her out to lunch. When we walked to the restaurant she wanted we found that it
was closed for the day. A bunch of teens came over at 1:00 to get the keys for
the church to decorate for tomorrow. Lucky planned a huge mother’s day meal for
them tomorrow. The deal has been a lot more work than she expected it to
be. I spent the afternoon working on the
lesson for this evening. The lesson is a about 1st Kings 3 when
Solomon asks for wisdom. At 4:00 Della and I went over to the church building
and ate birthday cake for Lucky with everyone. At 5:05 we piled 12 people (5
adults and 7 teens) in the 7 capacity van to go to Shucutitan for the small
group study. The turnout was pretty slim; we only had about 15 people. I felt
the lesson went really well. We got back home at 6:55 and we ate leftovers for
dinner. Bryan arrived at 7:30 and we worked on his new computer for a while. He
has a little netbook that we are trying to get Ubuntu to work on. His computer
is so old that we have to put everything on the SD card because the hard drive
was too small. Then Lucky helped me have a short study with Bryan. We studied
Matthew 25 on the parable of the ten virgins. Bryan said he had been reading
his bible some. He left at 9:30 and I went straight to bed.
Shameless selfie, hoorah! Happy birthday, Lucky!
