8/19/14: Day 170: Need a Miracle

Studied Spanish until 11:00 and then we went to Osvaldo’s house for lunch. We visited for an hour then started eating. We were given wonderful tender chicken and several side dishes. For desert we had watermelon. Then they asked about pastries and when Lucky mentioned that she liked plantain canoas Luz Elena (Osvaldo’s wife) jumped up and started cooking one for everyone. We all ate till we wanted to cry. Then they broke out the family album and we looked at pictures of baby Osvaldo. They mentioned that Luz Elena had a midwife that had managed to turn their baby so we called her and she said to come on over. We got there at 4:30 and she checked Della. The midwife said that our little Charlotte is too big for her to be able to do anything and at this point it would take a miracle but that she knew someone who had their baby flip just three days before giving birth. We were all disappointed in this news because Della will have to have a C-Section if little Charlotte does not flip. We went back home and had a late dinner because we were all still stuffed from lunch. David (One of the mission committee members from our home congregation) called for the first time on Skype and we talked for an hour. Words cannot express how blessed we are to have a home congregation that is providing guidance and encouragement for us. It started pouring rain and we lost power just after we finished talking. The power didn’t come back on until past midnight.
