I enjoyed a wonderful night of sleep after three nights in the hammock. I spent
two hours catching the blog up. Then I got a call asking for the keys at the
church building. I went and opened the doors and helped load some equipment.
Then I went back to the house to finish getting ready and then went back to the
church again. Lucky and I rode up with Carlos to Inmaculada for the VBS. We
divided into groups of two to an interpreter. We only had a few minutes to
canvas the neighborhood so I was able to do the interpreting without any
trouble. We had about 40 kids show up at 10:00. The VBS was a skit followed by
games and candy which lasted until 12:00. Then I went to the market to get some
more candy with the leader of the Gainesville group. We had pupusas for lunch cooked at the church
building. Della came and I showed some of my origami to everyone. The second
round of VBS went from 2:00 until 4:00. When it finished we packed up
everything and then went out from the church for some shopping. Westin bought
me a Crepe! It was banana and Nutella and yummy. It rained pretty hard so we
all ran for shelter. Then we had bible study in Ataco from 5:30 till 6:45. One
of the girls from the Gainesville group asked if she could read before the
study started. She read the first five verses and didn’t know how to read
Spanish very well at all. She didn’t know the ll or that h was silent. Samuel
told her she could read the first five verses of the 28 verse chapter and then
he would take over. When it came time for her to read she read with near
perfect pronunciation and fluency! She had totally faked us off! When she
finished reading the first five Samuel said with surprise in his voice “feel
free to keep going”.
