8/13/14: Day 164: 9th Anniversary

The last day of sleeping in a hammock! Today is my 9th wedding anniversary and the last that we will have without children! I packed up everything and then waited for breakfast. Then everyone went on a walk to a nearby park. It was supposed to be about 15 minutes away but it was more like 30. The last stretch was a super steep climb. We separated guys and girls and made two big circles. The outer circle and the inner circle were offset by half so each person had two people in front of them. We all put our arms on the shoulders of the people across from us and prayed for each of them. Then we separated into our small groups. First we prayed for specific strengths for the person to our left and then for a non-Christian friend of the person to our right that was not at the camp out to be reached. I translated each of the requests and then we prayed for a while. After we finished praying, a member from another group said they wanted to be baptized today! When we got back to camp we had a final lesson and a final small group discussion time. Then everyone had to clean and finish taking down the camp. As we were walking out the door one of the campers said they had lost their cellphone and believed it to be stolen. So the bags of every camper were searched but no phone was found. We then loaded onto the bus and went to the natural springs near Ataco where we had the double baptism last Wednesday. I didn’t think I was too tired but I fell asleep in the blink of an eye and next thing I knew we were pulling up to the natural springs. We all witnessed baptism number four in four days! I arrived home at 2:40 and took my first shower in four days. Della said she had been craving some pizza so we walked to a nice pizza restaurant to celebrate out 9th anniversary.

Over our first nine years we have lived in six houses and experienced the major life change of moving here. When we were first married neither of us had a college education but now we have both made it past that chapter of our lives. We have had our ups and downs but I can clearly see that we have both grown toward God more and more each year. I know that God put us together and I am thankful. This nine has been incredible but I believe that our future is going to be even more so!
