6/3/14: Day 93: Mobile Again!

We took Clifton to meet Hector at El Rosario so he could go to the beach. We decided to go on faith to San Salvador; hoping that Lucky and Tomás would find a good car. So Della and I headed for San Salvador; praying that the van would make it. We got about a quarter of the way there and I realized that we forgot to get our passports! I was super frustrated but we had no choice. We were hoping to meet Tomás and Lucky at 9:30 but this pushed it back to 11:00. We called Lucky when we got to the mall and she said that they were looking at a car that seemed good. So Della and I ate Taco Bell while we waited. We got some scratch cards with our meal and we both won cinnamon twists! Then Lucky called and said they were on their way to the mall with the car! The mechanic said it checked out and I looked it over as best I could from top to bottom. The person who was selling said that he just posted it today. He said he was selling it because he wanted to buy his mother in-law’s truck. He was a doctor who had owned the car for a year. Originally it was in a fender-bender and then shipped here from the states. It is a 2010 Toyota Corolla with only 29K miles. While we were talking the doctor got a call and he said he needed to go see a patient. So we went back into the mall with Lucky and killed an hour. At 1:30 we got in Tomás’ car and went to the lawyer to sign the papers. We had a bit of trouble there because they said I couldn’t sign the papers not being able to speak Spanish. And they said Della needed her El Salvador ID which she does not have yet. We managed to convince them to let Della go ahead and we could add her ID later. Then we went to the bank and exchanged the cash for a certified check. We said good bye to the doctor and then went to get Della’s ID. We got to the office 15 minutes before they closed. After that we went back to the lawyer. We said our good byes to Lucky and told her how thankful we were for all her help. Della was super stressed about having to drive in the San Salvador traffic but she made it to follow me all the way to Ahuachapán. We left the van at Carlos’ house and then rode together up the mountain. The car seemed to glide. We are very thankful that God provided this for us. I truly believe that he showed us mercy and provided a reliable vehicle for our future here.

Della's a winner!

29278 miles!
