9/15/14: Day 197: Independence Day

Last night was much better. Charlotte was content with the 2.5 hour rotation and Della is continuing to improve. Today is Independence Day for El Salvador!  At 9:30, I heard the sound of a marching band. When I opened the door to our house there were more than350 people standing there. Lucky and I watch them for nearly an hour. The parade was long; they would march 100 feet dance and play for 10 minutes and then repeat. I thought there were going to be parades all day long but this ended up being the only one. Della wanted a panini for lunch so I walked a few blocks over to get her one. Thankfully Della’s uber sensitive smell has gone away and I was able to enjoy hotdogs for lunch. Della is getting more sleep now than before because her heartburn has also completely gone. We slept a bit in the afternoon. Then in the evening Lucky, Della, and I listened to the sermon Macky from Central gave last Sunday. Dad had recommended it saying that it was one of the best that he had heard.

The sermon mainly centered on Ezequiel 33 which I had recently read and found personally convicting.

Charlotte was a bit fussier tonight. At one point I decided to let her cry for 5 minutes before attending her; thinking that she was sleepy and would give up soon. When I decided I needed to get her I turned on the lamp to see my way out of bed. The moment she saw the lamp had come on, Charlotte got quiet. I thought maybe she had finally fallen asleep. When I checked on her I saw she was wide awake. Della said to get her because she knew I was coming and was waiting on me. I waited a bit and sure enough, she got tired of waiting and started to cry again. I don’t know why that impresses me but it does. A 3 day old baby is smart enough to stop crying when she knows you are on your way. There is probably a spiritual lesson I could pull out of this…

I love her expression. It says, "I hate wearing garbage"
