3/11/14: Day 9: Start Evangelism, Not

10:00 AM
Today has been nice and restful so far. I got to spend the morning reading the bible, surfing the web for a vehicle, updating this blog, and emailing some people that I miss dearly. Last night Hector challenged me to write and memorize the opening prayer for this Sunday in Spanish. I told him “Thank You for Your Encouragement” so here is the English version.

Opening prayer for Sunday
Amazing and powerful God whom we are made in the image of. Thank you for recording the lives of your servants in Genesis so that may have more faith in you. Open our hearts this week as we study Moses, help us to be humble like he was. Please be with the Hector today as he speaks. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray.

8:58 PM
So it turns out that the evangelism did not happen today. Hector and Carlos left at 5:00 AM this morning to go to a city to have a study in a city that is a ways off and they didn’t get back until 3:00 PM. I called Hector at 1:00 today and he said we would start the evangelism tomorrow. So Della and I headed for the market to buy some baking soda and a melon. When we stepped out of the door we saw Marixa (Edgardo’s wife) and Javier waiting for us. They were here for a meeting that we were apparently supposed to have but didn’t because the evangelism was canceled for today. The reason we did not go out on our own is that Carlos reported to us yesterday that every door in Ataco had been knocked and that at this point we were focusing on several contacts that were responding positively. Della cooked some banana bread at 2:40 and at 3:00 Hector arrived to take us to his house. Lucky cooked dinner for everyone and we had the banana bread for desert. It was delicious, cooked with the honey from Manuel and the bananas that were starting to spoil. We then had the small group bible study at Hector’s house. I counted about 9 adults there. The study focused on Genesis chapters 15 – 21. We got home from the study at 8:45 PM. It’s about time for bed.
